Thrift Store Gem and some Up-Do's

I found this little desk at a local thrift store.

I knew it was a hidden gem.  I chose to use AS Duck Egg Blue. Together with some dark wax to bring out the distressed areas, and a finish coat of clear wax, here is how it turned out:

These pictures are pretty dark.  I wanted to show you a close up of the distressing.

LOVE it!

I also gave this chair a little up-do.  Because it has the caning on it, I had a hard time finding the right color.  I ended up with a Versailles green.  Here is the before:

Here is the after!  The pictures don't really show the beauty.  Guess I need a new camera...

Thanks for looking!  Until next time.

A nice re-fresh

A wonderful client asked me to paint these two pieces for her.  They were very old and worn.  Here are the before shots:

My client wanted the pieces to be painted in either white, or white and black.

The table was painted in Annie Sloan's (AS) Old White.  I distressed it a bit, then coated it with wax.  Here is the result:

I painted the chair with a coat of AS Graphite, then a coat of AS Old Ochre.  A little sanding and a coat of wax and here is the result:

I love them!  The client loves them too.  She was going to sell them in her store, but likes them so much, she may just keep them instead.

What do you think??

Christmas in the Country

Well this weekend (December 2, 3, and 4) is Cedarburg's Christmas in the Country.  I will be in the basement of the Cedar Creek Winery.  Here are a few selections of what I have made this year.

These are snowmen (and women) made from vintage salt and pepper shakers, some clay, and some vintage costume jewelry.

Here are some ornaments made from vintage yard sticks, and some Scrabble tiles.  I think they are so cute!

These are ornaments made from tiny clipboards:

Glass ornaments decoupaged with vintage book pages:

Genuine Snowman in a Can! (ornaments)

Market bags with French prints (LOVE THESE!!):

I also have some mixed media collage, and some prints like this on vintage dictionary pages:

Stop by and see me... I'd love to see you!

New collage

My friend gave me this frame a few years ago.  She thought I might be able to do something with it.  So I painted it white, and then it sat, for years.  I put the paper and vintage lace in it last year, then it sat again.  Until now!

In the beginning of September I found this perfectly preserved dead dragon fly on my driveway.   I recently repainted my bathroom and the new shower curtain has dragonflies on it.  What a perfect fit!

Here is the finished collage:

I hung it my newly painted bathroom.  Love it!

2 New Pieces

Well, I just completed two new pieces for my bedroom.  I only remembered to take a before picture of the chair (typical!).

Here it is:

I bought this chair at a rummage sale for $1.50!  It is so sturdy, I knew I had to re-do it.  Here is the after:

A close-up of the arm, and the beautiful fabric:

A close-up of the back:

One of the legs:

I LOVE IT!!!!!

I used Annie Sloan's Coco, a dark wax, and a clear wax for the chair.  Next, I painted a dresser that I have had for awhile.  When I picked up this dresser, it had multiple coats of latex paint on it.  I did not like it, so I stripped it, and stained it.  Well, after 9 years, I decided it needed another makeover.  Like I said, I forgot to do the before picture (oops!).  Here is the after.  (The pictures don't really do it justice...)

I used ASCP Aubusson Blue, and French Linen on the top.  It looks so nice in my newly painted bedroom with the king sized duvet cover I just made.  (More on that later).

Thanks for looking!  :)
